Cryptocurrency, sometimes called crypto-currency or crypto, is any form of currency that
exists digitally or virtually and uses cryptography to secure transactions.
Cryptocurrencies don’t have a central issuing or regulating authority, instead using a
decentralized system to record transactions and issue new units.
Supporters see cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin as the currency of the future and are racing
to buy them now, presumably before they become more valuable.
So, to raise awareness about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, a debate was organized at
Staford School by the students of class XI on 22 nd Dec, 2021. The students were divided in
two teams. First team was “Virtual Base” which was in the favour of crypto-currencies and
had Shashwat, Adarsh, Harshit, Iqra, Zeenat and Zeeshan as members. Second team was
named as “Crptoagents” and it consisted of Nawaz, Shambhavi, Ziana, Afra, Yashi and
Yusra.
First round was an introduction round, in which both the team captains introduced the topic
and team members expressed their views for and against the use of Crypto-currencies.
Second round was ‘debate round’ in which both the teams were questioned by the
opposition on their views regarding usefulness of crypto-currencies.
Finally, the contestants were grilled by the audience and the judge on several points raised
by them during the first two rounds.
To conclude the debate Principal Ma’am addressed the students for being conscious while
getting tempted to any new technology and declared team Crptoagents as winners and
awarded the certificates to the winning team. And even best Speakers from both the team
were also felicitated, which were Adarsh Jaiswal, Shaswat, Shambhavi Raj Singh and Afra
Abdul Hameed.
It proved to be an immensely informative session for everyone as an in depth discussion
took place on a topic which is sure to affect the financial world in many ways.
