Keeping in sync with the academic curriculum, an educational trip was planned for the tiny tots and students of class 1 on 6th February 2016. The paramount purpose of the trip was to promote fun filled learning and wildlife conservation.
On the arrival at the Zoo, the students were excited to enter the Zoo and see the animals. After settling the belongings, students lined up for a joy ride in the toy train. Children boarded the train at Chandrapuri station and travelled to almost every section of the zoo happily reciting “chook chook gaad”rhyme. As they travelled in the train they witnessed plants, bushes, grassy grounds, animals, birds which came from other countries of the world. There were pelicans, Siberian Crane, peacocks, peahens, sparrows, Nightingale etc.
The cranes, storks, ducks and swans were swimming in the pond. Some birds were singing, chirping and whistling. The tiny tots were amused to see various kinds of monkeys, gorillas and baboons and were also delighted to see their favorite animals, which include tigers, lions, leopard and cheetah. There were also elephants, giraffe and crocodiles in different cages.
The other attraction of the zoo was stags, deers, hares, antelopes and rabbits. The most entertaining were the playful chimpanzees. They were showing various tricks and everyone enjoyed the acrobatics. The best area was the natural habitat created for the lion. Some children were frightened of the roar of the lion but at the same time they were anxious to see the King of the jungle.
A beautiful white building, the Baradari amidst green lawn was another attraction for children where they had their tiffin. Children happily played under the supervision of their teachers in the park which had variety of swings and slides.
The children enjoyed the visit thoroughly and took back memories of birds, animals and reptiles.
The visit to the Zoo was both informative and educative.
