24th October, United Nations Foundation Day was celebrated in Staford School in a special assembly organized on the occasion. The children were informed about the history of the formation of United Nations (UN) and also made aware of the significance of the UN’s emblem.
Children of class V and class VI spoke about the organs of the UN, the Special agencies of UN, and the work done by each in the field of humanity, peace, health and education. India’s partnership with the UN was also highlighted and children learnt, among other things, that India joined UN in 1945. The contribution of the Indian Peace Keeping Force in various military missions in different countries of the globe was shared with the children.
The role of United Nations and the importance of world peace in co-existence of all nations is the need of the hour and UN has lived up to it.
