On 7th of February, the pre primary wing enjoyed waltzing through the yellow day! Because colours are an integral part of life and every colour has a special significance in our lives, the little Stafordians celebrated yellow and brought a splash of sunshine yellow to a cool winter morning. Yellow symbolizes knowledge, enlightenment and happiness; it is also the colour of warmth and friendship. Yellow brings energy and vitality and perhaps, this is why the tiny tots seemed full of enthusiasm and shone bright in all hues of yellow.
The children assembled in the morning to appreciate the beauty of the colour and admired each others’ yellow attires. Flowers, knick-knacks, and everything yellow that children could find in their surroundings was collected and brought to the assembly ground. Subsequently, apart from following the regular assembly schedule, the teachers used the opportunity to tell the children about fruits, flowers and objects which are yellow in colour. The children were also taught about the spring season and sang songs like “Spring is here ”, and “He Sharde maa” in the context of Basant Panchami.
Later in the day, children continued to celebrate Yellow Day through various entertaining activities. Kindergarten children were involved in activities such as making a sunflower with the help of hay, tea leaves and pulses, thumb printing, and palm printing. While Nursery kiddies were busy colouring a yellow banana, a giraffe, and a duck in their group activity for the day. The children also had great fun sorting yellow smileys.
Celebrating the yellow day was just a fun way of emblazoning the concept of yellow in the young minds;just another way for the children to become capable of recognizing and appreciating yellow in all forms and objects, be they natural or man-made.
