On 21st of February, 2014 pre-primary students of Staford had an extended round of fun with letters, words, and pictures. The little ones demonstrated great confidence, enthusiasm and discipline during a first of its kind competition organized especially for them. It was the occasion of ‘Spell Bee’ competition organized especially for the little ones who took on the challenge and proved that they are in no way lesser than their senior friends. The participants were chosen from a draw of lots and included 5 participants from each section of Nursery, Kindergarten and Class I. The competition required the little ones to come up on the dais, name objects in the pictures, associate them with the letters, and spell out the words presented to them in the challenge rounds.
The first round of the competition was for the participants of Nursery followed by another round for K.G., and finally for class I. The children showed great confidence in introducing themselves and then answering each question put to them. Be it the letter recognition through flash cards or the round on picture recognition, the tiny tots from Nursery stole the show with their charming promptness in answering each question. The Kindergartners proved their competence with their effortless spelling of Consonant Vowel Consonant (CVC) words and Class I showed their mastery over spelling of phonograms.
The competition was organized with every bit of the decorum and details that are associated with any formal occasion. Ms. Neelima Mishra hosted the event and apprised the participants of the rules. The Principal and the Headmistress were the judges of the event. The score keepers were Ms. Neha and Ms. Kulsum. Each participant did extremely well, but the following children scored full marks:
