Sleeping well is essential for good health, keeping this in mind the prep. school children of Staford had fun participating in a mock “sleepover” with their classmates in a specially arranged Slumber Party.
The school organized the party in the school campus on 29th August 2014. The tiny tots were all dressed in their nightwear and comfortable casuals, with an overnight bag packed with tooth brush and towels and breakfast goodies.
The teachers put in great efforts to organize the slumber party. The night sky was recreated with twinkling stars and a resplendent moon hanging from the ceilings of darkened rooms. The children were engaged in several playful activities to facilitate the learning objectives. They had fun passing the pillows, singing rhymes and talking about themselves- all of which excited them thoroughly. The children enjoyed the bed-time stories that were narrated to them by the teachers and many of them fell asleep while listening to these interesting stories. As they woke up after an hour of good sleep, the children went to the wash room to freshen up and brush their teeth, after which they recited the morning prayer and had their breakfast.
Children never forget what they learn at school, so we took this opportunity to inculcate good bed-time habits in the children-such as brushing the teeth before going to bed and after waking up in the morning, wearing clean and comfortable cotton clothes to sleep in, offering prayers before going to bed, greeting the elders at night as well as in the morning, having a healthy breakfast in the morning, and above all, learning to do all this independently.
We had great fun organizing this slumber party and hope the young ones will always cherish these memories when they grow up. We also hope the children will practice what we have taught them and have a happy, healthy life with nights replete with restful slumber.
