A quiz is a form of game or mind sport in which the players (as individuals or in teams) attempt to answer questions correctly. It is a brief assessment used in education and similar fields to measure growth in knowledge, abilities and skills.
An Inter-House Science Quiz was held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 for the students from Grades I to VIII at Staford School. The students of all the four Houses- Amber, Garnet, Emerald and Sapphire House participated in the quiz with full enthusiasm and excitement.
The quiz competition was exuberating, motivating, enlightening and engaging and was aimed at developing the knowledge and excellence base among the students.
The quiz was conducted by the science subject incharges in their respective classes for classes 1 to 8. The format of the quiz entailed four rounds:
- Individual round- where each member of the team had to answer the question individually.
- Rapid fire round- where ten questions were asked in succession and the team had to answer them within a given time period.
- Spell the word round- where each team was given six difficult words to spell.
- Visual round- where the team had to identify the image shown and answer the related question. The visual round was enjoyed the most by the students.
The results were announced in the class just after the quiz was over, thus motivating the students to participate with even more enthusiasm in future events. Although all the house members participated actively, the house that scored the most was Amber house leading with 263 points and standing first. The second position was bagged by Emerald house with 231 points and Sapphire house stood third with 221 points. The quiz was a source of enjoyment and enhancement of the knowledge of our young students.
