Road safety has become a pressing need today. Both the adults and the students need to be aware about the traffic and safety rules. With the aim to inform the students about the road safety rules, “Ride Safe Awareness Program” was organized at Staford School by Lucknow Traffic Department and Hero Motors.
Mr. Ainul, in charge of traffic department, began the workshop by interrogating the students about the different types of road signs. Suryansh of class VII and Arnav of class IV A told about the three types of road signs: mandatory, warning and informatory. A PowerPoint presentation was shown next by Mr. Ainul regarding the importance and requirement of road safety. The presentation had a glimpse of the accidents caused due to the ignorance of the people. It also highlighted the fact that people witness road accidents but do not come forward to help the victims. Moreover, the consequences of rash driving were shown through a number of interactive videos. The facilitator of the workshop, Mr. Pankaj then explained in detail about various road signs and their meaning, rules and norms of speed of vehicles on various roads, speed of vehicles and the minimum distance to be kept between vehicles while driving.
At the end, a quiz was conducted, in which students were asked few questions related to safety rules learnt throughout the session.
Overall, it was a fruitful experience for all the students intended to help them in future to be a safer road user and a responsible citizen.
