“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong”
Such were the words of our Father of the Nation, who was an epitome of peace, non-violence, truth and duty. To pay homage and respect to such a great soul, a special morning assembly was conducted at Staford School on 1st October, 2015. The special assembly began by paying the tribute and garlanding the photo of Mahatma Gandhi.
Our music teacher, Mr. Anuj Yadav and the school choir sang a melodious hymn ‘Vaishnav Jan’ which was one of the favourite bhajans of Mahatma Gandhi.
Gandhiji practiced everything he preached. The common people appreciated his beliefs and ideals during the struggle for independence, and by the end of it Gandhiji had the whole nation following in his footsteps, adopting his beliefs as theirs and spreading his words all through the nation. Class V students presented few of his famous quotes along with the meaning hidden in them. Recitation of the Hindi poem “Do October pyara din” by the students of class IV followed soon, telling us about the importance of 2nd October and also briefing us that Gandhiji was the perfect example of simple living and high thinking.
A short speech based on his life was presented by the students of Class VI and to involve the students, a quiz was prepared as well. Finally, with an informative and interactive skit prepared under the guidance of Mr. Shiraz Saeed, took us closer to the cleanliness drive or Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. The young students of class VII and VIII took a pledge to make their country, a clean India. The assembly concluded with a speech by our Principal ma’am, who inspired the students to practice Gandhiji’s preachings and thoughts in their practical life and also encouraged them to keep their surroundings clean.
