One Nation Reading Together

One of the most lasting ways parents and teachers can jointly impact a child’s overall success, is by instilling in him/her the love and passion for reading. Learning how to read and write opens up infinite opportunities for children, giving them an entirely new way to communicate, expand their imagination, and to learn new things. Yet, more important is to make them learn the art of enjoying what they read. This will further help them develop reading skills on their own.Reading nurtures the human brain to the best of its capacity. Thus, in the early years of growing when little children develop skills to turn themselves into competent individuals, it is essential that parents and teachers encourage them to make reading a habit.

In an endeavour to inculcate the love for reading in children, Staford Preschool, Chowk in association with Scholastic India observed, ‘One Nation Reading Together’, on November 24, 2017. During this activity, all teachers, students and even the support staff members were seen reading books, magazines and newspapers together.

This activity proved to be a great success as children came up to teachers requesting them to continue the reading session for long. They learnt phonetic sounds, the right way to pronounce words, correct articulation besides learning to recognise alphabets.
