The students of class 6A learnt the chapter Body movement in their science class.
The objective to teach about the skeletal system was to tell them about bones their types and locations in human body. The students learnt to identify the name and location of major bones in the body and explain how bone growth occurs.
To make the teaching more interesting and effective, a hand on learning class was arranged by their teacher Ms Shailja. The structure was introduced as Mr Bones and some questions were asked from the students like:
Had they ever broken a bone or do they know someone who had?
What was the experience like?
How was the bone repaired?
A model skeleton was shown to them. Using realia helps the students to better understand the topic being taught, as well as helps to make the lesson more interesting for the students. They were asked to explain the parts of bones in their own words . The students enjoyed meeting Mr Bones and learnt about the ways we can keep our bones safe and healthy.
