After a relaxing summer break, students of the Pre primary wing of Staford School had a fun-filled time and thoroughly enjoyed the MANGO PARTY especially organized for them.
The day began with a field trip to the village Dussehri where the students saw the “Mother Mango Tree.” The Children were very excited as the tree was really huge with enormous branches, and plenty of mangoes dangling within reach of their tiny hands. The children were thrilled to climb the low drooping branches, almost touching the floor, and even hold the mangoes in their tiny hands, under the careful supervision of the teachers.
The objective of this trip was to celebrate the mango season and to introduce the children to the fruit laden trees, and to help them distinguish different shapes, sizes and colours the mangoes come in. Through this trip, the children were also taught the concept of raw and ripe mangoes and they learnt to identify the same through first-hand experience. The mango orchards surrounding the tree were an amazing and unusual sight for the children, who took in the entire experience happily. The children set an example by putting on their best behaviour, and demonstrated that they were at their observant best by absorbing everything pointed out to them!
As a class activity, teachers of pre-primary section interacted with children through different cartoon characters made out of mangoes- the pre-primary version of the mango people! Children enjoyed hearing stories narrated through these mango-toons such as Mama Mia Meow, Mangemerica, Jiaan, Tweetybutterfly, Mango dolly, and Stuart Little, The opportunity was used to inculcate good habits, morals and social values.
Children enjoyed themselves thoroughly throughout the day with various activities revolving around the King of fruits. To top it all, they left the school with beaming faces, overjoyed with the mangoes they got to carry home!
