15 Aug 2015

Let’s remember the sacrifices of our martyrs.

Let’s pledge for peace and brotherhood.

let’s pray for everyone’s good.

Let’s say together “We are proud to be an Indian”.

Filled with this feeling Staford School celebrated the 69th Independence Day on 15thAugust, 2015. The whole ambience was filled with patriotism. The programme began with the flag hoisting ceremony. The esteemed chief guest for the function was Dr. Nirmal Gupta, an eminent heart surgeon at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences at Lucknow. He unfurled the National Flag, which marked the beginning of the programme.

The students of classes IV A and IV B sang a song “Ae mere watan tujhe lakhon salam” in the memory of the great leaders and reformers who have contributed in making this nation, the greatest civilization. The students of class VI emphasized on the need of secularism through their heart touching dance performance. To highlight the greatness of the country, class V students recited a poem ‘Bharat Desh Hamara’.

To give prominence to the achievements and global recognition of our nation, class VII students gave a vibrant performance on the medley of patriotic songs. The next performance by the girls of classes V to VIII took everyone to the period of Indian Independence movement, when they sang a song ‘Himadri tung shring se’ with full zeal and vigour. It was followed by portraying the selfless patriotic feelings through the recitation of the poem ‘ To India, my native land’ by the students of class VII. The teachers of Staford School too sang in praise of their country and presented a beautiful song’ Bharat tujhse mera naam hai’.

As the celebration reached its peak, an energetic song performance by the students of class VIII on ‘Aarambh hai prachand’ filled the atmosphere with a call for freedom and sacrifice. Last but not the least, the young Stafordians of classes II to V showcased the grace and elegance of our roots and also stressed upon the most remarkable feature of our nation ‘Unity in diversity’ through a colourful dance performance. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Principal ma’am.

The entire programme filled everyone’s heart with a feeling of fraternity and patriotism and gave a message of contributing in the best possible way to make India a developed country in true sense.
