Learning by doing is the most effective way of learning- be it academics or extra-curricular activities. Keeping this in mind an Inter House Dance and Singing competition was held on 8th August, 2014 but with a difference. This time it was the turn of students to prepare for the competition with least involvement of the teachers. Choreography, costumes, and lyrics -everything was worked upon by the students. The purpose was to instill in them confidence, satisfaction and a sense of responsibility; the children lapped up this opportunity and put their hearts into it. Winning the competition is not as important as being a part of it and giving your best. This spirit was present in each and every child irrespective of the house and class.
The theme of the singing competition was patriotism, since this month has been dedicated to India’s freedom struggle. The feeling of unity and camaraderie was evident in each choir. The song compositions were uplifting and a treat to hear. Sapphire house stood first followed by Emerald house, with Amber house on the second and third place respectively.
The dance competition was based on “Sawaan—- welcoming the rain”. The weather on the D-day was quite apt for the dance performances and the participants enjoyed it to the fullest making the audience swing on their moves.
Though each performance was laudable, Sapphire house stood first, Amber house bagged the second position, and Emerald house secured the third position.
The joy of life is in experiencing every moment consciously and being receptive to life’s gifts. Realizing the importance of people’s contribution in our collective lives, the sacrifice of our parents, grand parents and great-grandparents in securing a peaceful life for us, is essential for a conscious, conscientious and grateful present generation. Our efforts will always be on to make children value simple little joys – to celebrate freedom and celebrate life!
