Knowing our leaders
After a trip to the historic monument—The British Residency, Staford Preschool, Chowk, organised yet another interesting activity — ‘Know thy leader’, for its students on January 24, 2017, as a precursor to the Republic Day celebrations.
During the event, a fancy dress activity was held. It aimed at making students aware of patriotic leaders and their selfless sacrifices for India. The tiny tots came dressed as various prominent leaders and freedom fighters of the country. They also recited famous slogans and quotes like, “Jai jawan, jai kisan”, “Tum mujhe khoon do, main tumhe azaadi dunga”, “Jai hind”, “Satyamev jayate”, “Swaraj mera janmasiddha ahikar hai, aur main isse leke rahunga”, “Inqalaab zindabad”, “Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab humare dil mein hai”, “Aaram haraam hai” and “Dushman ki goliyon ka hum samna karenge, azad hi rahein hain, azad hi rahenge”.
This activity, which also aimed at inculcating the feeling of patriotism in kids by way of narrating stories about the valour of brave hearts, proved to be highly informative and inspiring for children. They not only learnt about important leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, Chandra Shekhar Azad and others; and stories about the freedom movement, but also were made to understand the diversity in culture that India prides of.
Towards the end of the event, all students were presented with certificates of appreciation.
