6th September, 2013 heralded the first inter-house Science quiz competition at Staford School. The event witnessed enthusiastic preparation and participation. The teams comprised of two participants per class, per house. Ms. Shailja Joshi and Ms. Sarah Abbas were the coordinators and quiz masters of the event.
The format of the quiz entailed three rounds for each class, wherein the final round was a visual round, which the students enjoyed the most. The time allotted to give the correct answer was ten seconds, failing which the question was passed to the next team. In case, none of the teams were able to answer correctly, the question was open for the audience. The scores were tabulated by Ms. Rizwan Fathima, whereas Ms. Ayesha Siddiqui and Ms. Krati served as observers to see which team hit the buzzer first. Five points were awarded to the team for every correct answer and two bonus points to the team who correctly answered the question that was passed to them.
Although the teams participated actively, the team that scored the most was Sapphire House, which was followed by Amber House who took the second position. The other two houses, Emerald and Garnet, succeeded in opening the account but could not make it to the finals. There was much jubilation in the winning teams.
Staford School encourages positive competition and hopes to bring out the best in all its students through such competitive events, while ensuring that the children learn through all possible ways- not just through books and class-room teaching.
