Speech is the communication of ideas or thoughts through spoken or written words. Friday, 1 August 2014, witnessed some wonderful speeches given by young Stafordians of class 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.
The skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and assimilating are vital for language learning. Furthermore, proficiency in each skill is necessary for effective communication. The aim of the I Speak competition was to enhance the communication skills of Stafordians to assist them in becoming excellent communicators.
The competition also intended to improve students’ speaking skills, pronunciation of difficult words, and use of appropriate vocabulary. It also aimed at helping them acquire an understanding of the patterns of stress, rhythm and intonation. Keeping in mind the level of students children of class 3 were given the topic “National Leaders”, class 4 and 5 spoke on “Past Glories of India” and classes 6 and 7 chose to speak on “Social Issues”.
The speakers were adjudged by our Principal, Ms. Vijaya Kumar, and Ms. Rizwan Fatima.
