Elocution classes are a part of any good English session. It provides an opportunity to speak formally with the proper knowledge and use of pronunciation, grammar, style and tone. Be it the communication classes or the English lessons, Staford is always working on the communication, diction and general speaking skills of the children. We decided to provide a platform to the budding orators of our school through an Interhouse Elocution Competition on 31st of July 2015, which challenged children of different age groups to present poems in a proper tone, rhythm, pronunciation and voice modulation.
The Competition was conducted for classes IV to VIII, where the students presented their poems with great enthusiasm and vigour. They were judged on the basis of clarity of speech, memory, pronunciation, expression and body language. The objective of this activity was to make the children more expressive, confident and spontaneous in their way of speaking.
Overall it was a healthy competition among the students. The result was as follows:
Class | Winner (house) |
4A | Emerald |
4B | Emerald |
5A | Emerald |
6A | Amber and Emerald |
7A | Sapphire |
8A | Emerald |
