Science (originated from the Latin word Scientia, meaning ‘Knowledge’)
Science is based on direct observation and logical conclusion.
When a child is born , he/she is like clay in our hands, and we have a great role to play in shaping his mindset . We can go on answering all his ‘WHYs’ with fairy tale answers and let him be in a fancy world , which is going to collapse anyhow one day or you can groom him/her into a wise , logical person by giving logical answers . It is not necessary or possible that we have answers to all the questions the child comes up with , but we can tell this to the child and give the correct answer by finding out the correct answer , and make him/her a part of the process .
If we want to have a fairy tale life for our child then we need to make him stand on a firm ground , based on scientific aptitude. Let us train our little children from the very beginning in such a way that their thinking is clear, logical , and not vague or superstitious. And is this not the real essence of Science ?
Physics may be pure physics ,
Chemistry may be pure chemistry
Biology is all encompassing
Any biological process can be dealt with by dealing with all three branches of science . While studying biology a child comes to understand that not only all biological processes are interlinked but Physics, Chemistry, Biology, are interlinked too.
What is Diffusion?
What is Osmosis?
What is Imbibition?
Are they similar in any respect?
What are the differences between them?
Why does water move in a particular direction and not the opposite?
Let us try to understand all this by taking up today’s activity.
