Astronomy Workshops is a collection of one day programmes which gives students a remarkable opportunity to participate, interact, experiment and unravel the mysteries of universe. It focuses on teaching Space Science and Astronomy to students through practical hands on experience, which help them develop their knowledge base as well as life skills. The whole philosophy of the workshops is:
¬ I DO= I LEARN
Following workshops were conducted in the school:
CLASS 1-2: SOL FAMILY : What better way to start exploring the universe than starting from our very own solar system? Students begin their exploration by knowing about the solar system planet. · Students learnt interesting facts about all the planets. · Students also learnt about the color and composition of the planets. · Students then made their own planet casts keeping in mind all the learning.
CLASS 3-5: ASTRONAUT-HOW CAN I BE ONE: Who can you be an Astronaut and how? How do you get trained to be one? These questions always bother our little explorers and finally finding their answers was a bliss!
In this workshop students understood who is an Astronaut, how they are different from an Astronomer and a Space Tourist.
Students understood about the challenges an Astronaut has to face in space. What sort of preparation / training is required to become an Astronaut? They learnt how an astronaut performs various activities in space like eating, sleeping, etc. They performed all the tests that a real astronaut undergoes like the lung capacity test, hand and eye coordination test, muscle endurance test, etc. to see whether they can be an astronaut or not?
