Geometrical Art

You are here: Home / Hardoi Road / Geometrical Art

29 Jan 2015

Curve stitching, or string art, is a beautiful way of combining geometry with art. It is the process of obtaining a curve using only straight lines. Beautiful designs can be created on grids of different shapes. Straight lines are sewn or drawn to look like curves.

The students of class VII had fun learning the simple concepts of geometry through an activity in which they created complicated looking artistic designs. Using just coloured pens and a ruler,  children made tear drop shapes and multi-hued petals in an equilateral triangle, and even a circle in a square.

The activity enabled students to learn mathematical concepts through this exploratory activity while making mathematics interesting and fun.
