The Pre-Primary students of Staford School, Lucknow, went on a picnic to the Zoo on Saturday 7th of February 2015. This trip was a first of its kind experience for the tiny tots who went out of the school, in such a big group together for the first time. The children experienced the joy of travelling together, organizing and reorganizing their groups, sharing and having a whole lot of fun together. This trip was a good opportunity for children to see the wild animals from their picture books in motion and reality. The sheer size, shape, and grace of these animals such as giraffes, zebras, deer, tiger and hippopotamus was something new for the wonder-struck eyes. The picnic also provided the students an opportunity to interact with each other outside the four walls of the classroom, thus enhancing their social and linguistic skills.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to see the wild animals in their natural habitat or to commune with nature. Thus we decided to give our little ones a taste of nature and help them appreciate the animals in their natural habitat. The children had a funfilled day out in the weak winter sun. They saw a whole lot of wild animals and birds, and even enjoyed their ride on the toy train.
The trip was made more fun for the children when the students enjoyed playing different games with their teachers and friends. The teachers also accompanied the students on a leisure walk, which endowed the students with an opportunity to appreciate the greenery around them. They had a pleasurable time taking various rides and playing on the slides and swings with their friends. The students also relished different snacks brought by them. Finally before leaving, the little ones set a good example for others by remembering to keep their surroundings clean and throwing the garbage only in the dustbins.
It was indeed great fun for children and a day to remember!
