For the love of language…
Hindi is one of the languages that have world-wide prominence. For us Indians, it holds greater importance than any other country’s natives, since it is our mother tongue. It is indeed a language to be spoken with pride. The skill of clear and expressive speech, especially of distinct pronunciation and articulation, is significant in every student’s life. Good communication skills — no matter in which language, are essential for a person who aims to ascend on the ladder of success. Elocution is an art form, which few people are blessed with and others must try to master it through repeated observation, hearing and practice. With an aim to make students vocally eloquent in Hindi, Staford Preschool, Chowk, organised a Hindi elocution activity on December 22, 2017. Mrs. Anjali Bansal, assistant director, Staford School, graced the event as the guest of honour. To teach kids the concept and usage of ‘swar’, ‘vyanjan’ and ‘matras’, the teachers gave several rounds of training to all participants, who presented a variety of poems, before the final day. In a bid to increase participation of parents, Staford School had invited them as judges. While Mrs. Ritika Mehrotra, parent of a child of class Nursery was present as the judge for children of class JPG, SPG and KG; Mrs. Soumya, mother of a child studying in JPG, marked her presence as the judge for kids of SPG, Nursery and KG. Students were seen reciting poems enthusiastically along with actions to convey their message. The activity helped children in develop communication skills; and inspired correct usage of grammar, vocabulary, expression, voice modulation, style and rate of speech. Their participating in elocution also imbued them with confidence of speaking and conveying what they wish to. Not only this, this activity also helped endow them with good mannerisms and taught them the right way of self-conduct, which further can act instrumental in their future lives.
