Driving the right speed is always a good deed

You are here: Home / Hardoi Road / Driving the right speed is always a good deed

13 Dec 2017

Time and again, Staford School steps forward for creating social awareness among its students on various social issues. Road and public safety also finds a prominent place on its agenda. We all know that road accidents are increasing day by day and there is an urgent need to create awareness about traffic rules and road safety among the youth. To get the firsthand knowledge about the necessary traffic rules to be followed, precautions to be taken for road safety and as the part of CBSE Work Education curriculum, a visit to Traffic Park, Krishna Nagar was organized for the students of Class IV to Class X recently.

The students explored the traffic park and it was really interesting to see the model of a network of roads with crossings, cuts, service lanes, dividers and round about. Traffic rules, no matter how trivial they may seem, are proven methods that help increase the safety of people walking or travelling on roads. Neglecting them might lead to accidents causing injury, and death. Road safety education plays an important role in shaping the attitudes and behaviours of children and young people – ensuring they become responsible drivers, passengers, pedestrians and cyclists.

The star attraction of the whole trip was the simulated test drive experience, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the students. Simulated driving lab gave the students real-time experience of test drive and the mistakes that are generally made while driving as they were visible on the monitor and were highlighted. As the children explored the Traffic Park, they were awe-struck by the miniatures of certain buildings like hospital, railway station, museum and school. An interactive workshop was conducted in the end, which threw light on some of the effective measures of road safety like basic awareness about vehicle, defensive driving according to weather and road conditions, proper use of lights and horn, importance of seat belts, adjustment of vehicle mirrors, ill-effects of over-speeding and need of maintaining safe distance between vehicles on road. The students were highly impressed by the enlightening workshop.

The trip filled the heart of every student with an urge to make a difference by being more responsible and taking extra precautions while walking or driving on the road.
