Farms are the places where a large variety of vegetables and fruits grow. Animals from large to small inhabit them. It is the mecca of activities for the young children during every season, as each time of the year brings an opportunity to pick a different fruit or vegetable.
It helps the children understand where their food comes from, how animals are raised and how the method of irrigation is carried out through canals. An exciting field trip to a farmhouse was organized by Staford School for the students of classes VA and VB on 3rd February, 2018.
The trip to the farmhouse provided the first hand experience to the learners and gave them an opportunity to understand farming.
It also promoted an understanding of using natural compost and manures in improving the fertility of the land. The students were also told about the benefits of eating healthy food. They were excited to see the domestic animals and their young ones. The process of irrigation using canals was also shown to the students.
The trip offered so many opportunities for the students to learn about Science. The children were introduced to botany (the study of plants), agriculture and horticulture (the cultivation of various fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers and more). They got to explore the scientific methods involved in planting and growing fruits and vegetables.
It was also an ideal trip to make a vital connection between man and nature.
