World Earth Day is celebrated every year as an annual event by the people all across the world on 22nd of April in order to increase the awareness among people about the environment safety as well as to demonstrate the environmental protection measures. To sensitize the children to become the crusaders for environment conservation, Staford School organized the ‘Earth Day Celebration’ in the school premises.
A special assembly was conducted on this occasion, where the enthusiastic students participated with great zeal. The assembly commenced with a short prayer sensitizing the students towards their role in addressing global environmental challenges at grass root level. The poetry recitation by Arunendra of class IX conveyed the strong message of planting trees. Astha Raj Awasthi of class VIII wonderfully delivered a speech on the need of saving our Mother Earth. The melodious song sung by the students of class IX sent out a strong message to preserve all the natural resources. A role play on ‘Save Earth’ by the students of class IX and XI highlighted the ways to protect the environment and keep the water, air and soil pollution-free. It also emphasized on the importance of planting trees.
The special assembly concluded with a vote of thanks by the Principal of the school, Ms.RatnaKhanna, where she emphasized on how each Stafordian can contribute in saving earth. She also gave them valuable suggestions on simple little things they can do for saving the environment.
The students understood that every day is Earth Day and pledged to conserve energy, dispose wastes properly, follow the four R’s and protect the flora and fauna, thereby bringing positive changes in the society.
