English is not a subject but a language, thus pedagogy must be shifted from theoretical to empirical

You are here: Home / Hardoi Road / English is not a subject but a language, thus pedagogy must be shifted from theoretical to empirical

19 Dec 2020

More empirical approach is required to make Students feel more confident in handling the English language.

When we talk about the English language teaching some aspects other than reading and writing are to be included in day to day curriculum of teacher’s lesson plan. By these aspects a teacher can consider some paralinguistic Activities that include the pronunciation, pitch, handling the force of the air coming out of the mouth, and inclusion of emotions while speaking a foreign language.

 Activity:

From time to time Students can be given an acclivity of reading the dictionary and finding out the difficult vocabularies for their Correct pronunciation. Dictionary reading can include the teaching of Phonetics (Symbols for transcribing the pronunciation). They can be trained for giving speech on any topic like woman empowerment etc. and asked for pouring all their emotions in their words coming out of their mouth. They can be introduced with different paralinguistic qualities which are very essential for being a good orator. It is possible only when the things are taken practically and Students are properly recognized for their Phonetic problems and provided proper guidance.

 Outcome:

Students shall come out of their shell gradually and start speaking confidently whether they have to speak in public, group or handle the stage. They shall be able to use their emotions in the foreign language and handle it easily just like their mother tongue.
