The aura on Friday morning at Staford School radiated in ethnic folk flavor. The atmosphere reverberated with the sound of music, dance and the vibrant spirit of the young and enthusiastic performers. The event was none other than the much anticipated Inter-house folk dance competition.
Dance is a form of art which develops the creative side of the brain. It is one of the most powerful forms of self expression. It enhances confidence, muscle strength, co-ordination, sense of rhythm, musicality and control over facial expressions. Dance also helps relieve tension and anxiety and helps in maintaining a healthy body. In short, it is an important ingredient in the mental and physical well-being of a person.
The competition was organized with the aim to help students become more assertive and expressive. The theme of the competition was “Rajasthani Folk Dance.” The dance performance livened up the atmosphere. The young stafordians from classes 2 and 3 enthralled everyone with their choreographed performances. They performed exceptionally well and all the performances were praiseworthy.
The event was organized by Mr. Vivek Prajapati, the dance teacher and each of the three minute performances were judged by our respected Principal, Ms Vijaya Kumar and pre-primary coordinator Mrs. Rizwaan Fatima, on the basis of choreography, synchronization, formation and dance steps.
Sapphire House bagged the first prize while Emerald House and Amber House won the second and third positions respectively.
