You are here: Home / Hardoi Road / Celebrating Gandhi Jayanti

1 Oct 2019

“Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.”

India’s 3rd national festival, Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated by the entire nation to commemorate the birth anniversary of the father of our nation- Mahatma Gandhi. Staford School celebrated Bapu’s 150th birthday in school, a day prior on 1st Oct, 2019 with great zeal and enthusiasm. The programme began with a special tribute to Gandhiji.

The special assembly commenced with a rendition of bapu’s favourite devotional songs RaghupatiRaghav Raja Ram and Vaishnav Jan .A skit in English presented by the children showcased the role of Bapu in India’s struggle for freedom along with the growing awareness of the people, especially in the children about the cleanliness drive launched by the Indian Government, famously Known as ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’.

A Speech by Haniya, a student of class X on contribution of Gandhiji in making India an independent nation gave a deep insight into the life and times of Mahatama Gandhi and LalBahadurShastri and encouraged the students to think about the sacrifice of our freedom fighters, analyze the importance and understand the value of freedom. This was followed by Hindi skit depicting Gandhiji’s dream of creating a clean, developed and educated India.

The day ended with a thought in everybody’s mind that cleanliness is next to godliness and service to mankind is the first step toward reaching it.

The students promised to abide by the campaign- ‘Swachhta Hi SewaAbhiyan’, with the pledge to keep school, home, city clean. The event emphasized on the importance of the famous message quoted by Mahatma Gandhi-Be the Change you wish to see in the world.
