‘Dancers are athletes of God’ and ‘Dance is the hidden language of the soul’. It is so true that ‘to watch us dance is to have our hearts speak’. The young and exuberant Stafordians filled the atrium with joy and excitement through their dance performances and spoke the hidden language of their soul through urban free style dancing. Early Thursday morning (24th July) Staford was once again buzzing with activity. The ambience resonated with the dynamic and electrifying performances of the young and zealous Stafordians. The grandeur of the eventful day at Staford was marked by the Hip Hop Dance Competition.
Dance has always been a part of human culture, rituals and celebration. Today most dancing is about recreation and self expression. Dancing has a wide range of physical and mental benefits including improved muscle tone and strength, better coordination, flexibility, improved mental functioning, greater self confidence and self esteem and better social skills. All these enhance a child’s academic performance and his physical well being.
This competition was aimed at helping students to express themselves in a fun-filled, loving and stress free atmosphere. The theme of the competition was hip-hop dance. Hip –hop dance belongs to the street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop music. It is often ‘free style’ in nature. Hip Hop dance incorporates a variety of urban styles. The event was an inter- house competition of students from classes 4, 5, 6 and 7. The dancers performed with great vigor and vitality. The entire show was mesmerizing. Each house participant tried his/her best to bag the first prize.
The event was organized by all the house teachers. The dance teacher Mr. Vivek Prajapati and the house teachers mentored all the participants to bring out the best in every child. Their choreography was truly amazing. The competition was adjudged by Mr. Ratnakar and Ms. Rizwan Fatima on the basis of presentation, dance steps, synchronization and choice of song. The time duration was 3 minutes for each house.
Sapphire house bagged the first prize. They performed on the song Dil To Pagal Hai (instrumental). Garnet house won the second and Emerald house won the third position.
