In another strong effort to inculcate and re-establish good food habits, Staford’s Prep section celebrated 20th September as the fruit and vegetable salad day for the youngest and most receptive Stafordians.
The objective of the activity was to make the children aware of the enumerable benefits of various fruits and vegetables, to tell them about the nutritive value, and health benefits of including such food into our daily menu. The children are already aware of the benefits of fresh fruit, this activity helped them appreciate the taste, texture, color and benefits of fresh salad.
At Staford, we believe in all round development of the children, so we motivate them through various activities related to the subject. Through this activity the tiny tots learned to wash, peel and cut fruits and vegetables before consuming them. They learned to make a salad, through demonstration and also tried their hand at tossing the salad. This time they also learned more about table manners and offering food to each other as an extension of sharing. The children had fun learning about the various minerals, and vitamins present in fruits and vegetables, and revised what they learned in the salad making activity while coloring the fruits and vegetables worksheets.
We’re sure the children will take home the message of bringing more healthy components into their daily meal intake and we’re looking forward to healthier and crunchier tiffins for our young stafordians!
