Inaugural day 22nd November 2014:
The annual sports day Blaze-2014 was inaugurated with full vigour in a grand ceremony today ( 22-11-2014) at the sprawling Staford School grounds. The first day of the two day sports and PT display was dedicated to the pre-primary section who set ablaze the spirit of sportsmanship and put up a great display of skill and dexterity in the several drills, and races presented by them. The first day was inaugurated with the release of balloons and lighting of the torch, which was followed by a grand march past saluting the dignitaries. The occasion was graced by Commandant Mr. P.K. Singh (91st Battalion, CRPF) and guest of honour Mr. S.V. Singh Director. Department of Secondary Education.
The main attractions of the program were the Pom Pom drill, hoop drill and tambourine drill by classes nursery and Kindergarten. The children participated in several skill testing races such as the tunnel race, I am a builder, tidy up and string the pearls, each of which tested the motor coordination of the children and put to test skills of balancing, eye hand coordination and agility. The children stole the show with their enthusiasm and energy. The tiny tots had much to look forward to when they were felicitated at the prize distribution ceremony and were awarded cups and medals by the chief guest at the end. The first day’s program ended with a vote of thanks by the Principal Ms. Vijaya Kumar.
Blaze 2014 will hold its second day’s track and field events tomorrow with all the children from the primary section putting up a grand display tomorrow (i.e. 23-11-2014).
The main attractions tomorrow will be taekwondo, cricket drill, pyramid and yoga. The races such as sack race, cardboard placing race, skipping race, three legged race, relay race and 100 m race will be worth looking forward to with the finalists all set to set the tracks afire.
Day 2 – 23rd November
Day 2 of Blaze 2014 organized by Staford School, Hardoi Road, Lucknow presented an array of exciting skill testing races, sports and PT drills. In a programme well attended by eminent members of the society and a full house packed with parents of the eager stars of the day- students of classes 1 to 7- the young Stafordians blazed forth a new path and set new standards for themselves. The chief Guest Mr. Dheeraj Sahu, I.A.S. and Guest of Honour Colonel Mr. Vipul Dutt.
The main events of the day focused on the athletic skills, gymnastics and Taekwondo displays. The teachers and the students put up a great effort in bringing together events of the day whose main highlights became the Fire dare and Taekwondo display. The audiences had their hearts in the mouth when the children leapt through the tongues of flame in an amazing display of confidence and training. Another performance that won the applause of the audience were the Pyramids by children of classes V to VII. The lotus formation and multi-tiered pyramids were a treat to watch. The children of class one and two set the field ablaze with their performances that demonstrated not only their synchronization skills but also their agility. The yoga presentation by class three was soothing and emphasized on the need of a regular yogic exercise to empower the mind, and body. The drill on cricket strokes by class 5 was a hit among the audience and enjoyed thoroughly by the children themselves.
The races were amazing to watch as the children participated in the 100m, 200m and relay races. The sack race, bump the balloon, stepping stone and three legged races were also worth a watch with the participants vying for the coveted first position.
The Prizes were given away to the participants of the races who were completely overjoyed with their performance and proud to receive the award. The Chief Guest Mr. Dheeraj Sahu blessed the students with his kind words and inspired them to aim higher and not feel discouraged by losing on a game, because victory is just a turn of time. Staford School’s Blaze 2014- the two day sports event concluded with the vote of thanks by the principal Ms. Vijaya Kumar who commended her excellent team and thanked them for working towards the realization of the school’s vision and mission of making a difference to each child and to the society.
