Technology has been dramatically developed worldwide so far in most of social life aspects, especially Internet and telecommunication. One cannot deny the fact that computers have become an indispensable part of our lives. Focus on computer education in schools improves students’ research skills, develop their creativity and inspire them to undertake careers in technology. It also enhances technological progress, which is the major determinant of the future of any country’s economy.
Staford School organized a ‘Computer week’ for the students of classes IV to VIII from 8th Feb to 13th Feb dedicated to inspiring them to apply all the knowledge gained of different computer applications throughout the year.
The week commenced with a poster making on ‘Save Water’ by the students of class IV. The students not only used Microsoft Word to design an informative poster but also explained their content in a wonderful manner. The animation movie making using Scratch software by the students of class V demonstrated a wide range of creativity, where the students made the animated characters move on their finger tips.
The students of classes II and III also showed their creativity by using Paint software to make wonderful images.
The students of class VI did programming in Q Basic and made power point presentations on different topics. The interesting house wise presentation making competition brought forth the imagination and effective communication skills of the students. .
Class VII students indulged themselves in manifesting their innovative ideas as they designed different web pages in html. Last, but not the least the week concluded with a project made by the students of class VIII on coding in Visual Basic. They also participated in a house wise debate competition on relevant topics related to social media. Amber and Garnet house got the topic ’Social media- a bane or a boon?’ while Emerald and Sapphire house presented their views on the topic ‘Regulation of social media’. It was an interactive session followed by queries from the audience, which were answered beautifully by all the participants.

Overall, it was an interactive and informative week intended to make the students more creative and provide them with an opportunity to apply the concepts learnt in the classroom.
