Since the chilling air of winter has changed into soothing cold breeze, here comes the spring season known as Basant or Vasant in India, one of the six Indian seasons. Basant Panchmi” is an occasion which marks the advent of the spring season and is also celebrated to worship Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge and wisdom.
Basant Panchami was celebrated in Staford School with great fervour and enthusiasm. The entire school looked festive and observed the festival of Basant Panchami with much divinity and faith to honor the Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of learning who bequeaths the greatest wealth to humanity.
The whole school assembled together during morning assembly to pray and seek blessings from Goddess Saraswati and to reach the epitome of knowledge. The pooja started with a beautiful Saraswati Vandana by Arunendra of class VIII, who read shlokas with great devotion. Every one paid floral tributes to Goddess Saraswati. Arnav Joshi of class VA highlighted the importance of the day with his outstanding speech. The students of class V B celebrated the joyous spirit of this festival through a melodious song ‘Basant Ritu Aayi’.
A wonderful adieu was given to the students of Class X by the students of Class IX who also extended warm and hearty wishes to their seniors and prayed for their success in the upcoming Board Examinations.
The Principal of the school, Ms. Vijaya Kumar, acquainted everyone with the true significance of celebrating the festival of Basant Panchami by stating that this festival signifies the happiness and comes to brighten up our lives and bless us.
