Children enjoy hearing stories all day, every day, from all around. These stories are an important part of childhood as they nourish their imagination. Kids not only enjoy listening but also narrating these stories in their own special way. It helps improve their language skills, instills a love of reading and stirs their imagination. As a learning tool, storytelling can encourage students to explore their unique expressiveness and can heighten a student’s ability to communicate thoughts and feelings in an articulate, lucid manner. To encourage this, Staford School organized a Storytelling Competition, for preprimary students on Friday, 5th November 2016.
This competition provided the students a platform to express their thoughts and bring out their creativity besides giving an opportunity to develop their public speaking skills and confidence. The children narrated various stories, such as Lion and the Mouse, Two silly Goats, The Thirsty Crow, and lots of tales and moral stories with a great style. Vibrant costumes and props added flavor to their narration. The participants’ mastery in the art of storytelling was evident by the way they captivated the audience. The judges had a tough time selecting and awarding the winners. The Principal congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts put in by the teachers and parents in training the tiny tots.
