The importance of trees in purifying the air and maintaining the ecological balance is well-known. Staford School took the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan a step forward through tree plantation drive organized for classes V to X on 7th September 2019, wherein many saplings were planted around the school.
Prior to the plantation activity, students were briefed about the significance of native trees and ways to plant them and take care of them. The students comprehended that trees help in building soil; moreover, they help soak up storm water before it can lead to a flood. They also offer energy-saving shade that reduces global warming and creates habitat for thousands of different species. And most importantly, can help remove carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from the air, which cools the earth.
Each class was allotted locations for tree plantation. The children participating in the drive prepared placards and raised slogans to create awareness among the community. They pledged to take care of these saplings and spread awareness among their peers. The activity sensitized students towards the need to preserve our environment and ecology.
