A hands-on astronomy workshop was organized for the students of classes I to XI at Staford School by Labrynthe Pvt. Ltd on 5th December 2018. Labrynthe offers a wonderful opportunity for students to learn exciting and new concepts of astronomy and space sciences by hands-on-learning and activities.
The workshop was conducted to acquaint the students about the best and the latest in the field of space sciences. It was intended to make Science fun for them. The students found it fascinating to learn about astronomy and various terms associated with it. They learnt the interesting facts about stars, planets, galaxies, Nebulas, Asteroids, and Comets etc.
The fact that there are other planets that have moons excited the students. The Kepler’s mission that gave an insight on more than 300 exoplanets was also discussed during the workshop.
An interactive quiz about the universe was conducted. The students who answered correctly won ‘Rocket badges’.
The most interesting part of the workshop was the hands-on activity to show that air has weight by launching paper rockets in air using plastic bottles and a pipe. The students were awestruck to know about the bright future of astronomy. They understood that astronomy is a full-fledged career now and there are many career options available in this field.
Overall it was an enriching experience for the students to know more about the universe in which they live and explore its hidden mysteries.
