The Staford School held an English Recitation Competition for the tiny tots on the 27th of September 2013. It was the perfect day for the children of Nursery and K.G. classes to showcase their talent. The children chose a variety of topics for their recitation. The Nursery classes sang their rhymes in groups whereas the students of K.G. sang individual rhymes.
Nursery A chose to sing “We are the children of Staford”, Nursery B enthralled the school with “Ol M’cDonald had a farm” and Nursery C sang “A B C”.The children of K.G. classes sang individual rhymes like Our National Flag, My Red Balloon, Traffic Light. Barber-Barber, Cobbler-Cobbler, London Bridge is Falling Down, I’m a Little Teapot etc.
Reciting nursery rhymes is a great way to help the children develop their phonetic and linguistic skills. It also imparts rhythm awareness, body awareness and helps in developing cognitive skills. Often done as a group activity, reciting nursery rhymes is a highly enjoyable and social activity that goes a long way in the overall growth of the child.
In today’s recitation competition, children charmed the teachers with their poise, grace, confidence and expressions! The Principal and the Headmistress applauded the performance of the participants and appreciated the hard work put in by the teachers to make this event, a success.
