The Prep section at Staford had been preparing for diwali for almost a week. The preparations began with the making of the earthen lamps. The next activity was colouring the lamps and finally the day arrived to celebrate diwali with full gusto. 1st of November, was celebrated as a precursor to the festival of lights.
Diwali is the festival of lights and diyas are the fundamental element of diwali celebrations. They are symbolic of lighting the lamp of knowledge and are instrumental in bringing light to the world. The tiny tots of Staford School celebrated Diwali with devotion , enthusiasm and excitement. The kids were given a traditional welcome by the teachers –a warm Namaste with folded hands and roli and akshat to propitiate the deities of good fortune. Children were taught the vandana for diwali and were also informed about the significance of the festival through a PPT. There was a lot of excitement in the air as the children engaged in many fun-filled activities –making greeting cards for their parents and friends, conversing and sharing their Diwali plans etc.!
The young ones carried home, as take-aways, the diyas they had made and decorated along with the greeting cards prepared by them. Finally students wished each other and their teachers a Happy Diwali.
