The preparatory section of Staford School celebrated the 65th Republic Day with great enthusiasm and put up a charming presentation expressing their delight as well as capabilities, as the youngest members of the school and the future denizens of the country. The children of Nursery and Kindergarten had formally invited their parents to the Republic Day celebrations in School on Saturday, 25th January, to ensure that they do not miss out on the opportunity to contribute in the nation’s celebrations.
The celebrations began with the hoisting of the national tri-colour by the Principal. The children were brimming with zeal and eagerness to perform before their parents who were pleasantly surprised with the confident delivery of each rhyme, song, dance and skit. The preparatory section, who had joined school only a few days ago, after an elongated winter break, left no stone unturned in impressing the audience with their high level of energy, precision and confidence. The spirit of nationalism and patriotism blended with the innocence of the tiny tots made the republic day celebrations of this section a joy to watch.
The fast moving presentation included the rendition of the National Pledge, the Preamble of our Constitution, a choreographed presentation on A.R. Rahman’s Song “Jai ho”, an enthusiastic rendition of the song “Nanha munna raahi hoon” by the kindergarteners, a march past and a tribute to the national leaders and freedom fighters such as Mahatama Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Sarojini Naidu, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Bhagat Singh and Rani Laxmibai by children dressed up as these leaders. The children also demonstrated their knowledge and understanding of the significance of the national flag through a poem.
The celebrations were not limited to the children’s performance, they were extended to include the parents as well, who participated in a light-hearted fun-n- games and interactive session on good parenting, healthy food and eating habits etc..The day’s events saw their culmination in an address by the Principal. The Prep-section’s Republic Day Celebrations left the parents as well as the teachers amazed at the potential of the children whose energies are waiting to be tapped and channeled in the right direction. To end the day’s agenda, the Director, Principal and Headmistress joined the parents for refreshments.
